Recommended restaurants

Many restaurants do a lunch menu ('napi menu') between 11:30 and 14:00 for around 3 euro, which is usually two courses and a drink (it can also be a good way to sample a restaurant before going in the evening!).

Traditional Hungarian
Lugas, just directly behind St. Stephen's basilica, at Bajcsy-Zsillinszky út 15a and Vakvarju are two nice restaurants serving traditional Hungarian food.

More modern...
Menza on Liszt Ferenc tér that does a more modern take on the Hungarian classics. M etterem at Kertesz utca 48 change their menu on a daily basis according to what's in season.

Breakfast
The Gerlóczy at Gerlóczy utca 1 do lovely breakfasts from 07:00 to 12:00 and during the summer you can enjoy it under the tree shading the square at the front.

Something quick
Karaván has a selection of street food trucks in one lot just Kazinczy utca 18. Berlin Canteen, Paneer, Le crépe, Pasta Station, Mangalica és társa, Parázs, Vespresso, Zing Burger, a bar that prepares hot drinks, Lángos Máshogy, for the traditional post going-out snack.
